Next to come out are the grip rails that are mounted on the interior, above the doors. This is a photo of the passenger side grip rail.
The grip rails have three mounting points - one is the center piece, held by a single screw attaching the piece seen to a post inside.
The other two mount points are each end - two screws are accessable once the thin metal cap is removed. It was tricky getting these caps off without ruining them - a matter of pushing a small flathead screwdriver in behind and pushing a little here, a little there, working one's way around the cap's perimeter over and over until it was free.
Grip rails removed.
Like much of the metal on the interior - well, all of it, as best I can tell so far - my plan is to have it all cleaned up and rechromed. The metal on the grip rails is a quandary, though - as there are rubber-ish pieces attached to the center mounts, and around the edges of the end mounts, that match the color/texture of the material wrapping the grip rails themselves. I don't have high hopes of being able to remove these parts in a way that they are reusable. Something to ponder at a future date.
