Over-the-doors chrome trim removal

Next on the chopping... err, removing block: The chrome trim strips that wrap around the sides/top of the doors.

These trim strips are held on in similar fashion to the trim around the windows; about a dozen or so small screws. Get all these out and the trim comes away easily.

Note the black paint remnants - which also covers some of the mounting screws. I'm guessing that when the trim is attached, it's taped up on the outside and then painted over. I can't see how some of the screws could have been attached without scratching up the paint coating unless it was applied post-installation.

Trim removed. Into the basement for safe storage!

  1. Why restore when you can buy a brand new, high-tech Mercedez. Many people might think car restoration is just a waste of time, but what they didn't understand is the joy of doing it and the pride after everything has been done. I know you get me. Are you working on the restoration up to now? Or is it fully restored? Make some updates. We'd love to see this car up and running.
